Blagojevich has corrupted his office, carelessly. Quite awhile ago, in Yugoslavia, the youth of OTPOR started street demonstrations with the call, “Milosevic to Hague.” How many times in history has a population taken the enemy’s side while the ruins were still warm? Enemy aviation, with an aura of impunity, had sown destruction and blood in Belgrade. I remember that a Serb constructed a huge building and later wished to meet the pilot who bombed the area – to thank him because without him “it wouldn’t have been possible!” How many times in history have we seen somebody openly and joyfully profiting from the ruins of his city and deaths of his brethren? Isn’t it the peak of self centeredness and lack of feeling? He wasn’t punished, he wasn’t even judged . . . The authorities proceeded with the arrest of Milosevic, Karadzic and actively search for Mladic, not really questioning the enemy’s argument that blames the Serbs for everything. A few days ago, the “peacemaker” Ahtisaari declared that Serbia hasn’t paid enough for its crimes! Ahtisaari, who got the Nobel Prize for peace making, gave Milosevic an ultimatum. Milosevic asked,
“What will happen if I do not sign?” In answer, “Ahtisaari made a gesture on the table,” and then moved aside the flower centerpiece. Then Ahtisaari said, “Belgrade will be like this table. We will immediately begin carpet-bombing Belgrade.” Repeating the gesture of sweeping the table, Ahtisaari threatened, “This is what we will do to Belgrade.” A moment of silence passed, and then he added, “There will be half a million dead within a week.” (Source TFF)
And the leaders, to save their nation, submitted to all the conditions. The same Ahtisaari, in his own native Finland, participated in sponsoring a monument to the glory of the SS. One big shot declared that the Serbian dynasty were cattle merchants. Wasn't it the same one who, in his youth during the Second World War, wore the Hitlerjugend uniform? If yes, he was not alone. Now it seems that everything has fallen into their hands. In my view, for future historians, Serbs were punished for taking the ‘wrong side’ in World War Two, being among the very few in Europe who openly fought Nazism. This part of history is forgotten or neglected by politicians and by public opinion. The corrupt 'suite of events' that I mention in the title is a classic description of how people act who have been unjustly judged and punished. The Serbs couldn’t bear it and this brought a reaction. Nothing degrades the innocent more than slander. Serbs of the past were simple, noble and heroic. Now only simplicity remains.

What can the Serbs do right now? I am not in favour of Serbian suicide attacks against an overpowering enemy; I don’t want the Serbs to help their enemy by provoking destruction. Let’s not forget the old prophecy that Serbia will be reduced to the number of Serbs who will survive in the shadow of a tree. They should proceed to obey as much as possible. But I want them TO SAVE THEIR SOUL. Otherwise, like some others they will become the designated devil of the universe, as they are dangerously on this pathway. Let the Serbian media, Serbian schools, repeat the truth for its youth so the whole nation may be ready for the long fight ahead to save its honour.
