Homosexuality, etc.

By William Markiewicz

Each religion or ideology has something to forbid. Many societies don't have access to forbidden substances so temptations may not even exist. Great numbers of people in Central Asia don't even know what alcohol looks or tastes like. In cultures where genders are separated, homosexuality thrives. In mixed societies like ours the two tendencies have equal chances. Wherever homosexuality is unpopular or persecuted, it doesn’t disappear because it is more biological than cultural. In democratic societies freedom has the predominant rights, meaning that everything that is not harmful to the weaker and defenceless, is legal. Individual freedom ends at the point where other individual freedom starts, as the French Revolution proclaimed. In the face of collective freedom, our individual idiosyncrasies must remain confined within territorial, ideological limits.
